- Bust statue of Kazakhstan's national poet Abai Qunanbaiuly set up at our school
 [Photo 1] Kazakhstan's President Tokayev and Chairperson LEE Sanggyun of Shinil Educational Foundation pose for a commemorative photo after unveiling Abai Qunanbaiuly's bust statue at SCU campus on August 17, 2021. The unveiling ceremony for the bust statue of Kazakhstan's great philosopher, national poet, and enlightenment activist, Abai Qunanbaiuly, was held on August 17, 2021, 16: 30 at the SCU campus on the occasion of Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev's visit to the school in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Kazakhstan in 2022. The erection of the bust statue at our school was done at the request of Kazakhstan in connection with our school playing the leading role in exchanges and cooperation in culture and arts between the two countries, working with the Kazakh National University of Arts and the like. Those attending the unveiling ceremony included: Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister
?TLEUBERDI Mukhtar, Vice Prime Minister Sklyar Roman Vasilyevich, Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aimagambetov, and Kazakhstan's Ambassador in Seoul Bakyt DYUSSENBAYEV, Chairperson LEE Sanggyun of the Shinil Educational Foundation, Sookmyung Women's University President JANG Yungeum, who serves as the President of the ROK-Kazakhstan Society, SCU President KANG In, stage actresses PARK Jeongja and YUN Seokhwa, etc. As one who provided support for the erection of the bust statue, Chairperson LEE Sanggyun noted that Kazakhstan's national poet Abai Qunanbaiuly was a pioneer who provided hope and light to Koreans who were forced to move to Central Asia in the mid-20th century with beautiful, soul-stirring cadences. We should feel grateful to him. It is meaningful that his bust statue is set at our school on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Mr. Lee said. Abai Qunanbaiuly is one of the most respected leaders in the history of Kazakhstan. It is not difficult to find traces related to him even outside the country. He made a great achievement in Kazakhstan's culture. Studies are carried out to understand his philosophy better. |
