A Dual Degree Program

1) Dual Degree


(1) Definition : Awarding two or more degrees when the candidate selects additional major(s) from departments other than his/her primary major and earned the minimum required number of credits from each major.

(2) Period : Applicants should enroll in the courses of the desired major(s), earn credits and petition a set time frame between the end of the 1st semester of 2nd year and the end of the 2nd semester of 3rd year

(3) Qualification
① New Students - the student who has finished more than the first semester of second year with more than 53 credits acquired and higher than GPA 3.0 marked
② Transferred Students – the student who has acquired more than 16 credits in SCU and with a GPA above 3.0

(4) Application
Log-in -> Academics → College Application → Dual Degree Application → Screening of the academic affairs office → Approval of the President → Execution of the academic affairs office → Notice to the Dean of the Department → Notice to applicants by S M S

(5) Selection
① A Pool and Criteria : Within 50% of enrolled students of the department
② Method : Basically no screening. If applicants exceed the criteria limit, however, screening will be made in order of GPA, earned Credits, and acquired Credits of the Department.

(6) Remarks
① The department applied cannot be changed but cancelled.
② In the case that students want to drop out of the dual degree course, they are able to do it in every dual degree application period and must submit withdrawal application before the last semester of graduation.
③ Students in dual degree course are possible to graduate only when they meet the qualifications of both departments.
④ Students starting a double-major in a newly opened department are possible to graduate from the time first graduates in the department are occurring.


2 ) Major Transfer


(1) Definition : changing from one’s current department to another

(2) Period : Between the end of 1st year and the end of 2nd year

(3) Qualification

① Newly Admitted Students Only

(4) Application

Log-in -> Academics → College Application → Transfer Application → Screening of the academic affairs office → Approval of the President → Execution of the academic affairs office → Notice to the Dean of the Department → Notice to applicants by S M S

(5) Selection

① A Pool and Criteria : This is possible only when the department applied has room to receive more students.
② Screening : If there are more applicants than a capacity of the department, screening will be made in order of GPA, Earned Credits, and acquired Credits of the Department.

(6) Remarks

① The first semester right after transferring will be excluded from the list of scholarships.
② Transferring to the new department opened after applicants’ admission year or to the department in which applicants are doing a dual degree is not allowed.
③ Major Transfer is allowed only to the newly admitted, so the transferred is not allowed.
④ Major Transfer can be made only one time during the academic year.

- Completed certain amount of credit hours according to its own requirement
