The team including Profs. RO Geontae and CHEON Jiyeong of our school's Big Data & Information Security Department won first place in the natural language-based AI contest for climate technology classification held at the Green Technology Center.
Hosted by the Green Technology Center and sponsored by DACON, the contest was held from June 21 through August 16, 2021, with a total of 831 people/258 teams in attendance.
Our university's Big Data & Information Security Department was launched in step with the social demand in connection with the emphasis on the importance of the capability of collection, processing, analysis, and use of diverse data, whose amount is increasing rapidly.
The department carries out education on theory/practical knowledge about hi-tech information technology with which to use Big Data and to protect the information of governments, businesses, and individuals in a way that befits the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.
The department strives to train future professionals specializing in Big Data and Information Protection and encourages students to acquire the relevant certifications and continue their studies in graduate school to be able to compete with others in the IT market where people engage in infinite competition.
In the flood of data, Big Data technology is a very important factor in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Our Big Data & Information Security Department strives to provide first-rate education designed to develop Big Data and train talented people specializing in information protection in a way that meets social demand. We will continue to train young people who will play the leading role in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Prof. RO Geontae said.
Our school is the first among the country's cyber universities to have been rated Grade A in three consecutive official evaluation by MOE.
As the undisputed No.1 cyber university in the country, SCU is equipped with a unique online education system optimized for the contactless era. In 2021, we were selected for the program for supporting cyber universities' education reform, MOE's first financial support program for cyber universities. Thus, we will be able to contribute more to the expansion of updated online education demand and dissemination of good-quality remote education through the establishment of the relevant infrastructure.
