Signing of Memorandum of Understanding with Q University, Kazakhstan

On September 11^th(Thu) university signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Dr. Aisulu Janegizova, Rector of Q University, Kazakhstan, at the Smart Lecture Room on the 5th floor of Building A.

The purpose of this agreement is to promote academic cooperation, strengthen educational, cultural, and technological ties, enhance mutual understanding between the two institutions, support campus internationalization, and increase contributions to the welfare of local communities.

From our university, President Lee Eun Joo Lee, Senior Executive Vice President for Administration Park Hyun Seok, Senior Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Jung Sang Won, Executive Vice President for External Affairs Koo Kook Mo, Graduate School Dean Kim Hwan, Dean of the College of Psychology and Counseling Han Soo Mi, Director of Strategic Planning Nam Sang Kyu, and Strategic Planning Team Leader Noh Byung Ho attended the signing ceremony. The event was further honored by the presence of high-ranking officials including Mr. Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Mr. Nurgali Arystanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Korea. They are also scheduled to meet with representatives from major Korean higher education and research institutions to discuss ways to expand and strengthen educational and academic exchanges between the two countries.

After the signing ceremony, participants toured our university’s campus, which is equipped with cutting-edge online education systems, and engaged in networking activities. In particular, they visited the bust of Abai Kunanbayev (1845?1904) installed on campus, reflecting on its cultural symbolism.

In 2021, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Kazakhstan, our university erected a bust of Abai Kunanbayev, the national hero and most respected poet of Kazakhstan. The construction of the bust was carried out at the request of the Kazakh side, as part of the collaborative efforts between our university long dedicated to fostering cultural and artistic exchange between the two nations and the National University of Arts in Kazakhstan.

At the unveiling ceremony, the significance of the event was elevated by the attendance of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, along with numerous state dignitaries.
