School - Signed on March 4th(Wed), to support
educational opportunities for military personnel
Our university signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) with the Special Warfare School (Commandant: Brigadier
General Kim Jong Tak, hereinafter “SWS”) on March 4th (Wed), to
support the education of military personnel and promote mutual cooperation. The Special Warfare School is the only
special operations training institution in the Korean armed forces. It provides
training for special warfare non-commissioned officers and continuing
education, as well as 23 specialized certification programs including sniper
training, high-altitude infiltration, maritime reconnaissance units, and Joint
Terminal Attack Controller (JFO) training. It also offers commissioned training
programs for the Navy, Air Force, and the National Intelligence Service. This agreement was established to promote
the mutual development of both institutions and to expand self-development
opportunities and strengthen the competencies of military officers through
educational collaboration. The signing ceremony was attended by Brigadier
General Kim Jong Tak, Commandant of the Special Warfare School, along with
President Lee Eun Ju and other officials from our university, where both
parties discussed future cooperation plans.

Brigadier General Kim Jong Tak stated,
“Through this agreement with Seoul Cyber University, which is well known for
its military-specialized education, we expect to further expand opportunities
for self-development and practical training for military personnel.” President Lee Eun Ju commented, “It is very
meaningful to establish this partnership with the Special Warfare School, the
only special operations training institution in Korea. By sharing Seoul Cyber
University’s accumulated expertise in online education systems and academic
operations, we will actively cooperate to create the best possible educational
synergy between our institutions.” Meanwhile, as a military-friendly
university, Seoul Cyber University has the largest number of active-duty
military students among cyber universities and is recognized for its
military-specialized education. The university supports exemplary soldiers and
their families by hosting campus visits and cultural experience programs. It
also actively reflects the educational needs of the military through programs
such as the Department of Military and Police Counseling the first of its kind
among cyber universities and the Department of Defense AI, which has been
reorganized to meet the evolving demands of the armed forces. In addition, the university established the
Military Education Support Center to strengthen specialized competencies for
military officers and provide systematic military education. Through structured
research on the educational needs of each branch of the military, the
university offers customized curricula tailored to learners’ demands. In
particular, programs have been developed to address current military needs, including
counseling competency enhancement for officers, leadership training, adjustment
programs for maladjusted soldiers, squad leader leadership training, and early
childhood development support programs for military families. Furthermore, to expand academic opportunities for service members, the university operates a Military Entrusted Student admission track. Military personnel admitted through this track receive a 50% tuition scholarship for regular semester courses during their enrollment. To ensure high-quality education, specialized researchers in counseling, psychology, leadership, and character development continuously develop academic programs. The university also provides academic and counseling services tailored to the unique military environment, supporting military students in successfully completing their studies. |
