Department of Literary Creation Hosts ![]() The Department of Literary
Creation is hosting a “Female-Oriented Web Novel Writing Course” with an author
from Paper Company as part of its Story Match Class, a creative support program
for currently enrolled students. Beginning September 22nd (Tue), the
five-session course will be held every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. via live online
lectures on Zoom.
The course is designed
for those who are new to writing female-oriented web novels or who want to
learn how to create compelling characters and relationships. The five sessions
cover: ▲ Session 1: Differences between female-oriented, male-oriented, and
gender-neutral genres and the basic conventions of web novels; ▲ Session 2:
Character and relationship development in female-oriented genres and strategies
for writing Episodes 1?5; ▲ Session 3: Synopsis writing and feedback; ▲ Session
4: Feedback on students’
writing exercises; and ▲ Session 5: Feedback on students’ writing exercises.
The Paper Company
author leading the course is a fifth-year web novel writer who has written more
than 1,000 episodes. Their work includes serializing the web novel Lucky Plan
of a Second-Life Idol on KakaoPage and participating in its webtoon adaptation,
as well as contributing to the development of the world-building and characters
for Creationzip’s AI idol “muuo23” and producing web novel content. The author
has also given special lectures and mentoring sessions to students in the
Department of Literary Creation at Hanyang Women’s University.
Professor Min Sun, Head
of the Department of Literary Creation, said, “The Female-Oriented Web Novel
Writing Course is particularly valuable not only for students who are new to
writing female-oriented web novels, but also for those who have difficulty
planning the development and direction of Episodes 1?5 or who want to write
their own synopsis and receive feedback from a professional web novel author.
The course is structured to guide students through the essential steps of
completing a female-oriented web novel, one stage at a time. We hope that many
students interested in female-oriented web novels will participate.”
Meanwhile, based on the
slogan “Adding the Power of Literature to Genre!”, the Department of Creative
Writing nurtures writers who combine the depth of literary writing with the
practical skills of web-based storytelling through two tracks: Literary Writing
and Web Literature & Narrative. Starting from the depth of traditional
literature, the department seeks to shape the future of the content industry
and is actively fostering writers who connect people and their times through
specialized genre-focused classes covering both literary and web-based writing.
In particular, the department has established various systems to provide students with practical pathways to becoming professional writers. The intensive creative program “Story Match Class” is offered exclusively to currently enrolled students, with four to five genre-specific classes running for five to six weeks with the department’s full support. Upon completion, students receive step-by-step support toward publication and professional debut through connections with creative writing clubs. In addition, through various programs, including the Web Novel Mentoring Program jointly operated by the Department of Literary Creation and Writer Company Co., Ltd., students gain hands-on experience that can lead to professional careers as writers. The department also regularly invites active writers for meetings and special lectures, providing students with opportunities to gain practical industry experience. |
