On Friday, May 9, Seoul Cyber University (SCU) donated 10 million KRW to the Korean Red Cross (President Kim Cheol-soo) to aid in wildfire recovery and support for displaced victims. The donation campaign was led by the 25th Student Council (President Lee Young-woo).

The funds will be used by the Korean Red Cross to provide emergency living expenses for wildfire victims and to support regional recovery efforts.

President Kim Cheol-soo of the Korean Red Cross stated,
“I sincerely thank all SCU members who participated in this warm-hearted donation. This support will be of great help to those affected by the wildfires.”

SCU Student Council President Lee Young-woo added,
“We hope this donation helps even one more person find a warm, safe place to stay. With the dedicated participation and promotion from 48 department chairs, 18 regional council chairs, and the Student Council executive team, this meaningful fund was collected as a unified effort between students and the university.”

SCU has consistently participated in humanitarian efforts through the Red Cross, including donations for flood victims during the 2023 heavy rainfall, wildfire victims in 2022, and COVID-19 prevention efforts in 2020.

The university also leads various social contribution activities. It designates the 13th of every month as "SCU Blood Donation Day" to promote a life-saving movement and engages in home improvement volunteer work to support households with disabilities in need of better living conditions. Furthermore, SCU shares its high-quality lectures with the public through free special classes, setting an excellent example of accessible and inclusive education.
