Applied Music Department has been officially releasing student music annually since 2021 - Music creation contest, open to current students Since 2021, the Applied Music Department has been conducting an annual music release competition for enrolled students. Each year, two selected original compositions provide students with opportunities for music production, nurturing professionals in practical music, including popular music. Selected students collaborate with professors in the department, undergo professional arrangements, record with top domestic performers, and go through the mixing and mastering process with top-level engineers before officially releasing their music. In 2021, following the releases of BlueBird's "시계파편 (feat. Woozi)" and Jang Jaehyuk & Seungchan's "P.L.M.K," 2022 saw the releases of "빛" by the 'Soeun Sisters' team composed of Kim Soeun and Kim Eunhye, and "잊지 못하는 (feat. Jung Yujin)" by Choi Jeongwon. In 2023, "응원" by senior Cheon Changwon and "퇴근" by Choi Yongjoo and Seo Juwon were released. "응원" by Cheon Changwon is a song he created to comfort himself during difficult times, with the hope that it can also be a source of comfort to others. "퇴근길" composed by senior Choi Yongjoo with vocals by sophomore Seo Juwon depicts a life journey where one does not lose sight of one’s dreams. The released tracks are available on various music platforms such as YouTube, Melon, Genie Music, FLO, Bugs, and Vibe. Our university's Applied Music Department, led by Professor Choi Jeonghan, has a top-notch faculty with professors from Berklee College of Music and esteemed American graduate schools. It aims to cultivate leading professionals in practical music, including popular music, by maximizing the benefits of online classes and combining systematic theoretical lessons with practical experiences and lessons. The department particularly focuses on nurturing singer-songwriters who can handle 1-person production, covering the entire music production process independently, from research and composition to recording, mixing, and mastering. Professor Choi Jeonghan (Head of the Applied Music Department) stated, "Every year, Seoul Cyber University's Applied Music Department supports students' music production through competitions, encouraging them to unfold their dreams. In the future, our Practical Music Department will accelerate the training of professional musicians through various special lectures and ongoing support for students." |
