The Practical Music Department held its 4th Annual Concert, marking the end of the year, at Hongdae Live and Loud on Saturday, December 23, starting at 7 PM.

The recent performance saw the presence of approximately 40 attendees, including Choi Junghwan, the head of the Practical Music Department, Professor Cho Seongmin, Practical Music Department students, and their families and friends.

The concert featured bands such as 'Band Respect (SCU 1 pm),' Kim Kyumin (current student), Park Junhee (current student), Baek Seolwoo (current student), Kim Geonmo (current student), Nam Jin (current student), SerenDPT (band with current student Moon Jisuk), Virtual Band, and SCU10am. They showcased a mix of popular songs and original compositions. 'Band Respect (SCU 1 pm),' 'SCU 10 am,' and 'Virtual Band' are all band clubs that gather weekly with professors from the Practical Music Department for practice. Particularly, 'Virtual Band,' a remote collaboration group, demonstrated strong vocal and instrumental skills despite debuting on the day of the concert.

A year-end celebration for the Practical Music Department took place after the conclusion of the performance.

In the Practical Music Department, led by Professor Choi Junghwan, we offer the country's premier curriculum developed by distinguished professors from Berklee College of Music and reputable U.S. graduate schools. Our goal is to train proactive professionals in all aspects of contemporary music. Capitalizing on the benefits of online learning, we provide a structured blend of theoretical classes and hands-on lessons through various offline activities. We aspire to produce singer-songwriters capable of individual production, spanning research, composition, recording, and music creation. Specifically, our focus is on instilling the essential skill of individual production?managing the entire process of creating a musical piece, from lyrics, composition, and arrangements to singing, playing, computer-based music work, recording, mixing, and mastering. This skill is deemed crucial in the digital, contactless era for musicians. 

Since 2021, an annual music release competition has been held for enrolled students. Each year, two original compositions are chosen, providing students with the opportunity to delve into music production and nurturing professionals in the diverse realm of practical music, including popular music. Selected students collaborate with professors in the Practical Music Department for professional arrangement. They undergo recording sessions with top-tier domestic musicians and engage in a high-caliber mixing and mastering process with top engineers. This journey concludes with the official release of the tracks.
