The Department of Korean Cultural Studies (Headed by Professor Kim Eunho) will conduct the 'Winter Relay Special Lectures for Enhancing Korean Cultural Education Capabilities' in three sessions from December 30th to January 27th, 2024.

Geared towards enhancing academic and teaching abilities, these lectures in the Department of Korean Cultural Studies focus on 'Multiculturalism,' 'Children and Adolescents,' and 'Korean History and Culture Education' based on survey insights from current students, with a specific emphasis on practical aspects of educating multicultural children and adolescents.

Conducted by Professor Kim Taejin, a specialist in multicultural Korean language education from the Department of Korean Cultural Studies, the target audience comprises current students, those on leave, graduates, and prospective students (limited to 30 participants). Pre-registered participants will have the opportunity to attend the offline sessions.

The special lecture series kicks off on December 30th with a session on 'Multicultural Children and Youth Korean History and Cultural Education, and Korea's World Heritage.' Topics covered include an introduction to multicultural education and the importance of Korean world heritage classes. On January 13, 2024, the 'Educational Application of Korean World Heritage' lecture will discuss teaching methods and materials. Finally, on January 27, there will be a special lecture on 'Learning Korean through Activities,' involving group activities and traditional games for learning Korean.

Professor Kim Eun-ho, the head of the Korean Culture Department, hopes for active and meaningful participation in the specially curated lecture series, taking into account the demands and interests of the department's students. He expressed optimism, saying, 'I expect this special lecture, tailored to our students' needs, to provide a rich and meaningful experience through active engagement.' Professor Kim emphasized that the series, focusing on multicultural children and youth Korean history and cultural education, offers an excellent opportunity for practical skill enhancement.

Meanwhile, the Korean Culture Department, led by Professor Kim Eun-ho, is dedicated to spreading Korean language and culture worldwide while simultaneously cultivating Korean language instructors (accredited by the National Institute of the Korean Language) and multicultural society experts (recognized by the Ministry of Justice). The department provides education on Korean as a foreign language, Korean culture as a foreign culture, multicultural phenomena, and immigration issues. It is Cyber University's pioneer in offering 'Special Purpose Korean Language Education Theory,' meeting the requirements for obtaining a Level 2 qualification as a Korean language instructor under the 'Enforcement Decree of the National Language Basic Act.' The program caters to a diverse audience, including international students, general foreigners, multicultural families, foreign workers, overseas Koreans, and North Korean defectors. In contrast to similar departments in other cyber universities, our department offers a unique approach. It provides a systematic curriculum allowing students to obtain both a Level 2 qualification as a Korean language instructor and a Level 2 certificate as a multicultural society expert within just 2 years and 4 semesters. This comprehensive education program has garnered significant interest. Additionally, the department actively engages with students and the general public through programs like visits to institutions related to Korean language instruction.
