Dreams in Songs: University Vocal Festival at Arts Hall

Our university's vocal music students showcased a stage demonstrating the pursuit of their dreams at the Arts Hall University Song Festival.

Our university's vocal music students participated in the performance, joining singers from across the nation in showcasing music themed around love, separation, family, and longing.

In a family-themed stage, Kim Donghee (47), a sophomore majoring in vocal music, sang 'Mother's Dream' with his children, Lee Jungki (21), who is also studying vocal music, and Lee Eunseo (20).

Kim Donghee, the student, recalled his dream of singing, saying, 'I entered the music college in my 20s but gave up and raised my children. However, while supporting my children studying music, I remembered my love for singing.' He revealed that he started studying vocal music when his daughter entered university, stating, 'When my daughter entered university, I decided to enroll in the vocal music department.' He expressed his gratitude, saying, 'I think it finally came true because I never gave up on my dream.' His son, Lee Junseo, remarked, 'Even when I advised my mother to take breaks while practicing, she wouldn't. She prepared for the stage with that level of passion.'

The song of Kim Donghee, singing her dreams alongside her family, resonated with authentic music, symbolizing her life.

Another standout ensemble, the SCU Vocal Ensemble, was formed. Led by Park Jongsin (47), the team featured the oldest participant, Lee Byunghak (76), along with Oh Sejin (44) and Lee Jonggun (22), synchronizing their voices.

The SCU Vocal Ensemble, singing 'Missing Family,' expressing the longing for families separated by the division after the Korean War on 6?25, deeply touched the hearts of the audience with the harmony of the new and old generations.

Leading the team, student Park Jongsin remarked that although starting vocal music studies late posed challenges, it also brought him great joy. He referred to this stage as a happy memory.

Lee Byunghak, the oldest participant, remarked, 'At first, everyone was skeptical.' He continued, 'There were many doubts about learning vocal music at my age, over seventy. However, whether at school or in competitions, despite being the oldest, my passion towards my dream remains unmatched by anyone.

Moreover, Oh Sejin, known for his work as a terrestrial broadcaster, revealed that he stepped onto the stage to fulfill his childhood dream. Meanwhile, the youngest member, Lee Jonggun, who achieved the top prize at the SCU Moscow International Online Vocal Competition, is expected to advance further through various stages, including this one.

Lee Seung Hyun, head of the Vocal Music Department, said, 'Our university's vocal music program is open to all who love singing. With both online and offline classes and great professors, it's the best choice for learning music easily.' He also mentioned, 'We'll keep supporting dreams at Seoul Cyber University with education suited to the untact era.
