On the 27th of May 2017, the statue for Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was erected at the campus of Seoul Cyber University (SCU). The statue is the exact replica of the original statue located in front of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. The original statute was made by the famous sculptor, Vera Ignatyevna Mukhina(1889-1953) and is still now considered to be one of the best works of art.

At the erection ceremony of the statue, the Russian ambassador Alexander Timonin was present along with the important guests who had contributed to the relations between Korea and Russia. The chairman of Korea-Russia Arts and Culture Society (KORACS) expressed his wishes that the erection of the statue might open another chapter for the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. The chairman Lee also added that he was very happy to see the statue of Tchaikovsky, a composer who had been much loved by Koreans.

As the statue of Tchaikovsky is the monumental piece not only for the Moscow Conservatory, but also for Russia, the permission to replicate the statue requires the rigorous procedure to examine its purpose. At the erection ceremony, President Eunjoo Lee of Seoul Cyber University (SCU) acknowledged that it took a long period of preparation to finally receive the permission of replication.

The statue was crafted and produced by the renowned artist Sang-kyu Park. The statue is 2.3 meters tall and made out of type 3 bronze. During the production of statue, Mr. Park was given instructions from a Russian sculptor to revive the artistic sentiment of the original piece. The pedestal of the statue was also prepared by another famous artist Geum-suk Oh, CEO of SeokYe's Art.

The statue of Tchaikovsky was erected to signify the mutual cooperation between SCU and Moscow Conservatory. Since the MoU documents were signed by both institutions in 2015, SCU students participated in the 2016 Masterclass program at Moscow Conservatory and likewise, Professor Yuri Slesarev of Moscow Conservatory visited SCU in 2017 to give the Masterclass lesson to SCU students.

At the moment, Moscow Conservatory is working with SCU to convene distant lessons via disklavier. Professors of Moscow Conservatory have already joined the disklavier test lessons to ensure the successful lesson in the forthcoming years.
