The 6th Annual Vocal Music Department Concert - November 15th(Sat) at 3 p.m., at the Dream Forest Concert Hall
The Department of Vocal Music (headed by
Professor Lee Yoon Jung) will hold its 6th Annual Concert on November 15th(Sat)
at 3 p.m. at the Dream Forest Concert Hall. The concert is open to all current
students, prospective students, and anyone interested in vocal music, and
admission is free. Those wishing to attend may register in advance through the
department’s website. Under the theme “Songs Sung Together as
One,” the concert will feature 62 student performers, including 46 members of
the SCU Choir and 16 members of the SCU Women’s Choir. Together, they will
deliver a rich and moving performance filled with familiar and beautiful choral
pieces. The program will begin with the SCU Choir
(conducted by Professor Hwang Yu Soon) performing Coronation Mass in C Major,
K.317 by W.A. Mozart. The SCU Women’s Choir (conducted by Professor Lee Myung Hee)
will follow with Song of the Wind by Kim Jung Wook and Night Snack
(Bamyanggaeng) by Jang Kiha. Finally, under the baton of Professor Hwang Yu Soon,
both choirs will join together to perform When a Flower Blooms by Yoon Hak Jun
and Beautiful Country by Han Tae Soo, delivering a heartfelt message of unity
and harmony. Professor Lee Yoon Jung, Chair of the
Department of Vocal Music, commented, “As the first
classical music education program offered by a cyber university, our department
leads innovative vocal education through a structured and distinguished
curriculum delivered by top-tier faculty, both online and offline. This concert
will showcase not only each student’s individual voice but also the beauty of
coming together as one, creating a stage filled with harmony, inspiration, and
hope for both the performers and the audience.” Founded in 2018 as Korea’s first online
university vocal music program, the department offers flexible, personalized
courses that allow anyone regardless of time constraints or location to pursue
their dream of studying vocal music. The program includes online lessons on
singing foreign-language songs, fundamental music theory such as Introduction
to Vocal Music and Sight Singing and Ear Training, stage movement courses, and
various liberal arts subjects. In addition to theoretical training, students can build practical performance skills through online and offline lessons, including one-on-one instruction, small group sessions, master classes, and level-specific content. With instruction from Korea’s top professors and special lectures by renowned vocalists from around the world, the department provides a rich and professional learning experience for all aspiring singers. |
