2025 5th International Counseling
Psychology Seminar - Scheduled for November 22nd(Sat) at 2 p.m., in the
International Conference Room, Building A, 2nd Floor
The College of Psychology and Counseling
(Departments of Counseling Psychology, Family Coaching & Counseling,
Military & Police Counseling, Professional Psychotherapy, and Psychology)
and the Graduate School (Major in Counseling and Clinical Psychology) will
jointly host the 2025 5th International Counseling Psychology Seminar on
November 22nd(Sat) at 2 p.m., in the International Conference Room,
2nd Floor of Building A. This seminar is open to all current
students, alumni, and anyone interested, who can participate after
pre-registering through the respective departmental websites of the College of
Psychology and Counseling. Under the theme “Human Touch in the AI Era,” the
seminar will feature three keynote lectures with simultaneous interpretation
provided: Dr. Alexander Rozental (Department of Psychology Professor, Lulea
University of Technology, Sweden); The Therapist’s Toolbox: Enhancing
Adherence, Documentation, and Client Care Using AI Dr. Per Carlbring (Department
of Psychology Professor, Stockholm University, Sweden); Artificial Intelligence
in Psychotherapy: From Science Fiction to Clinical Reality Dr. Hwang Mae Hyang (Department
of Education Professor, Gyeongin National University of Education, Korea) - Can
AI Replace Human Counselors? Focusing on Common Therapeutic Factors Professor Han Soo Mi, Dean of the College
of Psychology and Counseling, stated, “As Seoul Cyber
University, a leading institution in AI education, hosts this year’s
International Counseling Psychology Seminar with a theme aligned with the AI
era, it is meaningful to reflect on the essence of counseling and psychotherapy
- human connection and empathy - amid rapid technological advancements. Since
its inception in 2021, this seminar has grown into a signature event
celebrating its fifth year.” She continued, “While AI
enables efficiency and data-driven approaches in counseling, the importance of
human relationships remains irreplaceable. Through this seminar, I hope we can
explore ways for the counseling psychology field to harmoniously integrate
technology and humanity.” Professor Han added, “By bringing together distinguished experts from Korea and abroad to
share the latest research and practical case studies, this event will elevate
both education and practice in counseling psychology. Seoul Cyber University
will continue to expand opportunities for global academic exchange in the years
to come.” Meanwhile, the College of Psychology and Counseling was the first of its kind established in a cyber university in Korea, boasting the largest faculty and top-tier educational infrastructure in the field. It offers programs in Counseling Psychology, Family Coaching & Counseling, Military & Police Counseling, Professional Psychotherapy, and Psychology, fostering students’ professional expertise. In collaboration with the Graduate School’s Counseling and Clinical Psychology major, the college provides systematic, advanced training opportunities. Students also gain practical experience through counseling practicum programs offered at five university-affiliated counseling centers across the country (Seoul, Incheon, Bundang, Daegu, and Gwangju). These centers are equipped with individual counseling rooms, group counseling rooms, play therapy rooms, and sandplay therapy rooms, serving as training sites to strengthen students’ clinical competencies. From admission to graduation, students receive structured career guidance and dedicated academic advising, with curricula designed to help them obtain nationally certified qualifications such as Clinical Psychologist, Youth Counselor, and Play Therapy Developmental Rehabilitation Specialist. |
