Professor” 24/7 Live Consultation Service
Opening - Department Chair Kim Hwan of the AI Creator
Department implemented as a hyper-realistic avatar indistinguishable from the
real person - Expansion planned beyond undergraduate programs to
the Graduate School’s AI Convergence Technology Department, leading the way in
EdTech innovation - Launch of a 24/7 “Live Department Chair’s Office,”

24-hour live consultation using the “AI Virtual Professor” system Our university has unveiled a new
educational paradigm by introducing the “AI Virtual Professor” system, which
features ultra-realistic, high-quality digital humans nearly indistinguishable
from real people. A Digital Twin-level AI avatar of Professor
Kim Hwan, Chair of the AI Creator Department, has been created with precise
replication of his appearance, voice, and subtle facial expressions. Through
this system, 24/7 real-time live consultations are now available year-round. Unlike conventional and somewhat awkward 3D
characters, the newly launched “AI Virtual Professor” showcases hyper-realistic
details such as skin texture, natural hair movement, and blinking. These
enhancements provide users with the immersive experience of meeting the real
professor via video call. In particular, the technology that synchronizes mouth
movements and facial expressions with generated responses dramatically reduces
the unnatural feel typically associated with virtual humans. This system
represents a major leap in accessibility and scalability key strengths of cyber
universities. With this system, prospective students and
enrolled students can now have 1:1 consultations with the department chair
anytime and from anywhere, discussing topics such as the department’s vision,
academic pathways, and career planning. This goes beyond basic academic
guidance, offering students a new educational experience where they can meet an
“always available professor” whenever needed. The university also plans to expand this
innovative system to graduate programs, establishing an advanced AI-enabled
faculty model at the higher-education level of cyber universities. After being
first introduced in the AI Creator Department, the system is currently being
prepared for adoption by the Graduate School’s AI Convergence Technology
Department. Once implemented, master’s and doctoral students as well as future
researchers will be able to engage in advanced research discussions and receive
academic advising without time or space limitations. Professor Kim Hwan (also professor in the
Graduate School’s AI Convergence Technology Department) emphasized: “In an institution that leads online education, professors taking
initiative in using AI technology to communicate is the most vivid form of
teaching. We aim to build an AI educational environment that enables not just
the delivery of information, but emotional connection with students through
visual realism approaching that of real life.” Meanwhile, the AI Creator Department
continues to serve as a guiding force for the next generation of media content
creators. The curriculum bridges the gap between traditional media production
techniques and the limitless possibilities brought by artificial intelligence.
Students are introduced to cutting-edge AI platforms such as ChatGPT and
RunwayML, not only learning the theoretical foundations of AI, but also
applying these principles to media content creation to deliver tailored media
experiences to target audiences. This AI-driven production process empowers
creators to imagine media in ways previously considered impossible and to bring
their ideas to life on platforms like YouTube. With a strong foundation in both
media arts and AI technology, students can lead the new media era storytelling
with AI, co-writing with algorithms, and pioneering innovative narrative forms. The hyper-realistic AI virtual consultation featuring Professor Kim Hwan is available for anyone to experience on the AI Creator Department’s website. |
