Experience the Counseling Field!”

Practical Psychology & Counseling Special Lecture for Growth and Prosperity

Our university hosts a practical psychology and counseling special lecture titled “Experience the Counseling Field! A Practical Lecture for Growth and Prosperity” on December 6th (Sat), at 10:00 a.m., in the International Conference Room on the 2nd floor of Building A. The event is organized by the College of Psychology & Counseling, including the Department of Counseling Psychology, Department of Family Coaching & Counseling, Department of Military & Police Counseling, Department of Professional Psychotherapy, and Department of Psychology as part of the college’s Empowerment Program.

The lecture features presentations by leading field practitioners. Director Song Ji Won of Ije Psychological Counseling Center will speak on “Mental Health and Psychological Counseling,” introducing counseling approaches from a CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) perspective. Professor Kim Young Ae, President of the Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy Association, will present “Family Therapy Theory Based on the Growth Model,” sharing practical applications and case studies of the Satir Model.

Detailed information about the event can be found on the websites of each department within the College of Psychology & Counseling. The college has operated its Empowerment Program annually to strengthen student competencies, marking its 12th year this year. Each session is carefully designed to reflect students’ opinions and needs, offering customized lectures that provide practical learning support and enhance professional expertise.

Dean Han Soo-mi of the College of Psychology & Counseling stated, Over the years, while planning various programs for our students, we have visited counseling institutions nationwide and invited a wide range of field experts by topic. Now in its 12th year, this Empowerment Program offers a truly meaningful opportunity to experience the realities of counseling practice. Moving forward, our college will continue to strengthen the counseling and psychotherapy competencies of both current students and alumni through the Empowerment Program.”

Meanwhile, the College of Psychology & Counseling, the first of its kind among cyber universities, boasts the largest faculty body in Korea and optimal educational infrastructure. It offers programs in Counseling Psychology, Family Coaching Counseling, Military & Police Counseling, and Professional Psychotherapy, fostering students’ professional expertise. In 2025, it became the first cyber university to establish a Department of Psychology, further expanding the training of experts across diverse psychology fields.

The college provides counseling practicum programs and diverse hands-on training opportunities through five psychology counseling centers nationwide (Seoul, Incheon, Bundang, Daegu, and Gwangju). These centers are equipped with individual counseling rooms, group counseling rooms, play therapy rooms, and sandplay therapy rooms, serving as practical training facilities to enhance students’ clinical competencies.

From admission to graduation, the college offers systematic career guidance and a dedicated faculty advisor system, supporting students through career exploration, decision-making, and employment preparation. It also operates curricula designed to help students obtain nationally recognized certifications, including Clinical Psychologist, Youth Counselor, and Developmental Rehabilitation Service Provider (Play Psychology Rehabilitation). Furthermore, in connection with a general graduate school (Department of Counseling & Clinical Psychology) approved by the Ministry of Education for doctoral programs, students can pursue master’s and doctoral degrees, benefiting from a comprehensive and structured educational pathway.?
